As I recall, members of the clergy can't stand for election to the House of Commons. I'm more than happy to be one of the clergy persuading someone to give their career to it.
I think in the present climate, they'd have to be female as well...
The ban on clergy standing for the House of Commons was lifted in 2001.

Ho hum, my local uni chaplain told me that CofE clergy still can't stand, and I'm pretty sure he's been ordained since 2001. Hmm.
As for the film, I must admit I thought it could have been better, though it was still pretty good.
